How did Florida QB's game against SEC East rival Kentucky impact his chances for a second Heisman?
Tebow had a great first half: 2 Rushing TDs and 1 in the air; with over 200 total yards (split evenly between running and ground) against a weak Kentucky defense.
Then this happened:
And with that hit - Tebow's season, Heisman hopes, and Florida's national championship aspirations took a huge impact. The ramifications of this cannot be understated for the Heisman race.
It is automatically shifted as Tebow will miss October 10's road game at LSU (currently heavily over-ranked at #4, but still good), and certainly longer. Concussions are not something I would recommend a college-level quarterback playing through. (See EDSBS for discussion).
Although apparently, ESPN is reporting that Florida Coach Urban Meyer is optimistic on his chances for the game in two weeks.
With that in mind, my new rankings (again reflecting what I think it should end up as, not what it is with this last week included):
1. Tim Tebow (3 TDs with the flu before the hit)
2. Colt McCoy (good game, but another pick against a sub-par defense)
3. Jimmy Clausen (playing hurt impacted his numbers and playing time, but a game-winning drive on national broadcast always helps)
4. Case Keenum (again, a game-winning drive to continue to propel Houston onward and upward)
5. Jahvid Best (a non-factor with 50 yards against Oregon as Cal got shellacked)
Dropping out with a terrible performance against Virginia Tech was Jacory Harris - 3 turnovers - he's got a great future, but he's still immature and young. Plus, he lost to Beamer-ball. Bad.

I agree with your post ,even though you left Tony Pike off your list and had Jahvid Best on there despite the fact that in his last 6 quarters of football against unranked teams he has 29 rushes for 72 yards, a measly 2.48 yards per carry. You are right about both Jacory Harris and Case Keenum. This of course means that you are smarter than both Andrew and Tone.

Looking at the Heisman, I see it more likely that Cal can pull off a couple of wins on Best's back than Pike lead Natti to a great season. The Heisman will always go to more of the bigger names at the bigger schools vs. the leaders at a smaller school. Any marginal performance will hurt Pike far more than the bad day Best had. That being said, Pike certainly has a chance to prove himself, even if the Big East is far below stellar.

You are completely correct but I have a personal reason for wanting the buzz around Jahvid Best to die down. Mainly because the headlines following the Minnesota game, anyone who watched that game could tell you Best was completely ineffective in the second had getting just 17 yards on 13 carries but everyone just looked at the stats and raved about the way he ran all over the Gophers.
