Weekend Preview

This weekend's preview brought to you by Fever, South Bend's premier Thursday night destination and night club.

So what does Saturday hold for Jimmy, Tebow, McCoy, Best, and Harris?

Jimmy Clausen and the Fighting Irish head to Purdue (1-2) this Saturday and will play at night. Look for how Weis changes the offensive scheme now that star-wideout Michael Floyd is out for the season. I expect more looks for Kyle Rudolph, Duval Kamara (the new #2), freshman Shaq Evans, and Armando Allen out of the backfield.

Tim Tebow leads the #1 Gators into Kentucky (2-0) this Saturday. The Gators have dominated this series lately winning by an average of 29 points in the last fifteen games. Expect the Gators to continue to roll, but Tebow's numbers should remain low as the team continues to suffer from flu.
ESPN 2; 6pm

Colt McCoy and the #2 Longhorns face UTEP (1-2) this weekend. Expect Texas to roll big and McCoy to get his fair share of numbers. He won't get anything too big, as the Longhorns also are struggling with the virus.
3:30pm

Jahvid Best looks to continue to try and be the first running back since Reggie Bush to win the Heisman. The Bears head north to open up Pac-10 play against a resurgent Oregon (2-1) team. After 5 TDs and 150 yards against the Golden Gophers last week, Best should be expected to carry #6 Cal to victory again with similar yardage, but fewer scores.

Rounding out the contenders, Jacory Harris seeks to return glory to the U as, in one of the games of the weekend, Miami travels to Lane Stadium to face its prime ACC rival, #11 Virginia Tech (2-1). The Hurricanes are firing on all cylinders and Beamer Ball won't be able to slow or keep up with the speed and talent the U always fields. I expect a convincing win and Harris name to continue to move up the rankings for the Heisman. How does two touchdowns and 250 yards sound?
