Not only does Colt have the name to be a Texas QB, he has the game to go with it. With many people calling Colt the odd man out of the Big 3 (Bradford, McCoy, Tebow) coming into the season, he was seen as the frontrunner almost by default. It’s his turn. While Colt hasn’t put up dazzling numbers thus far this season (859 passing yards, 68.1% completion percentage, 6 TDs, 4 INTs), his team has put up 3 wins.
To keep himself in the running he simply needs to win games and have a few spectacular performances which we all know he is capable of. It also has helped his cause that neither Bradford or Tebow have been able to repeat the ridiculous numbers they put up last year. Colt also has been suffering from flu-like symptoms which have been attributed to his subpar first half performances thus far this season. How does he cope? Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and Pedialyte at halftime. If that doesn’t win the voters over than I don’t know what will. Will the eyes of Texas be upon the Heisman this year? We might have to wait until the October 17th showdown with OU to get any closer to an answer.
