Gameday Preview

This preview brought to you by Tylenol Extra Strength, helping me over hangovers since 2006.

Notre Dame has the hardest match-up so we'll start there, with the other three contenders playing in games that don't really matter as they wait for conference championships.

Jimmy Clausen hopes to save Charlie Weis' job with a win against Pitt. But it'll be tough going, because (a) Pitt might actually out-coach the opposition and (b) Notre Dame's defense is porous. That being said, Pitt is over-ranked. Look at their wins - the only decent team is the roller-coaster ride that is South Florida. So in the end, I expect a shoot-out, but I'm slowly warming to the idea that we can pull this out. Or it'll be 2008 again and we'll lose out. Either way, Jimmy throws for a couple touchdowns and 400 yards.

Tebow and the Gators face USC (South Carolina). The Gamecocks have pulled out upsets against Florida in the past under Spurrier's leadership, but I don't see it happening. Florida's D will attack the young Stephen Garcia and Spikes will attempt to rip off someone's ear. Tebow has a decent day - three touchdowns (one on the ground), but the Gator Defense rules the game.
3:30 CBS

Ingram needs to start piling up yards and touchdowns if he wants to stiff-arm in New York. Fortunately he's playing an average Mississippi State team. Look for the Tide to roll and Ingram to finally get in the end-zone after a hiatus from scoring.
7pm ESPN

The Longhorns play Baylor - a team that looked awful against the Cornhuskers two weeks ago. That being said, expect McCoy and his roommate to light it up. Texas rolls, McCoy throws for at least 3 TDs and 1 INT, and everyone wonders if they deserve to be in the National Championship game. Face it, the Big 12 isn't that great this year, but because UF and Bama have to play each other, Texas will play for the Crystal Trophy come January.
