Weekend Wrap-Up

This weekend wrap-up brought to you by reality, hitting Notre Dame Football hard since 1995.

Here's my new Heisman rankings:
1. Tebow
2. Ingram
3. McCoy
3. Clausen

And here's why...

Tim Tebow and the #1 Gators continued their dominance of Vanderbilt despite appearing out of step after complete victory of the Georgia Dawgs the week before. Tebow would have a season-high completion rate of 75% (15-20) for 208 yards and a touchdown, while running it for an additional score and 27 yards. His leadership makes him the front-runner in the Heisman race as Florida has the longest win streak in the nation.

The #2 Crimson Tide held off the Tigers in the game of the weekend. Although WR Julio Jones should get the game-ball, Alabama's offense controlled the pace of the game behind Ingram's 144 yards, of which 106 were in the second half. Ingram will certainly get an invite to New York, but his presence is hardly life and death for the Tide and his numbers not eye-popping enough to overcome the Quarterback Bias.

Colt McCoy woke up the offense and Jordan Shipley continued to perform at a high level as the #3 Longhorns rolled against 35-3. McCoy would have 470 yards on the day with a 79% completion rate, but only score twice while throwing a pick. He now has 17 TDs and 10 INTs (one in every game but last week against OK State). The turnovers mar an otherwise excellent resume.

Jimmy Clausen put up a statistically excellent game, but the Irish lost to Navy at home. He threw for 452 yards, 2 TDs, and a freak INT, but his leadership was lacking. The Irish played listlessly and an ill-advised run which ended in Clausen essentially hitting a defender straight-up lead to a key fumble in the red zone. Ultimately, no X-3+ QB had shown the traits needed to win the Heisman, regardless of his stats. It's been fun, but more is needed.
