End of an Era

I fully expect after an embarrassing lost to unranked Navy and tough games at Pittsburgh and Stanford left on the schedule, that we have seen the last year of the Charlie Weis era.

I have long supported him, realizing the

lowly amount of talent he had at his disposal thanks to Ty "I'd rather golf than recruit or coach" Willingham. However, after seeing an awful ending culminating in a loss to Syracuse last year and playing down to every opponent on the schedule except two this year, I'm done.

Charlie and his staff have brought in great talent - Top 10 classes every year. However, their prep of these athletes has been horrendous. Our defense looked as if they had seen zero game film and lacked the discipline to cover a snowman, much less a midshipman. When I look across and see zero players recruited by our staff and then up and see ND: 0 NAVY: 14 at the half, one can only blame coaching.

It is a known secret that Jimmy Clausen will take the promise of millions and jump to the NFL. And while Tate's future might still be in doubt, I expect to see the Crist-Floyd combination under new management next year.

The Class of 2010 should bring hope to their fellow alumni and students by donating enough money to buy out ole Chuck Weis. This is enough.
