The forgotten man on the forgotten team. While he's not putting up astronomical numbers, his team keeps winning, and while it might be impressive, they're doing enough. People are starting to clamor for his teammate Jordan Shipley to start getting recognition because he's not only doing it as a receiver but also as a punt returner. But there's no question who the leader of this team is and why Texas is still a strong contender for the national title, Colt McCoy.
The numbers aren't amazing (10 TDs 6 INTs, 73.4% completion and 1410 yards passing with one rushing TD), but quarterbacking an undefeated team at this point in the season is not an easy task. Texas hasn't even played a ranked team yet and isn't destroying the easy teams they should on a consistent basis, but Colt McCoy is a winner and a leader. If he hadn't been so brilliant last year would he be up for Heisman at this point in the season? Probably not, but it happens every year and this year is no different. It should also be noted that 4 of his 6 interceptions this year are either off of tips or deflections.
Colt gets a chance to make a name for himself this weekend when they face off with OU at the Texas State Fair. While it doesn't have the luster it looked like it would before the year, Bradford is back, OU has a loaded defense. Colt will have a chance to showcase his skills on national TV at the only premiere game at noon. Big game, big stage, it's spelled good results for McCoy in the past and he needs a repeat to get back in the Heisman race.
