Will Jimmy Go Pro?

That's the question my friends and I have been asking each other more and more frequently as the season has progressed. He is now #12 overall on Kiper's Big Board and #8 in Scouts Inc.'s rankings. Kiper has him behind Bradford and Locker, while Scouts rates Locker as the only QB better than Jimmy. ... Read more

Jimmy's Draft Stock Rising

Mel Kiper came out with his newest Big Board today, and for the second straight week he has Jimmy ranked at #11. I would post a link to the site, but you have to be an ESPN insider to read the article. He has 3 quarterbacks rated ahead of Jimmy: Bradford (#1), Locker (#6), and McCoy (#8).

Kiper doesn't include juniors on his big board unless they are in his top 15. Both Jimmy and Jake Locker appeared on the board for the first time after the ND-Washington game on October 3. Apparently the dramatic end to that game increased both players' value. ... Read more

The Case for Jimmy

As many ESPN viewers are aware, on Saturday night Lou Holtz tried to argue Mark May that Jimmy Clausen should be the front-runner for the Heisman. Luckily Reese Davis is a good judge and ignored May's absurd attempt to deflate Jimmy's stats and achievements. Much to the outrage of Mark May, Davis found that Jimmy is indeed at least one of the front-runners for the award. ... Read more

Tony "Half Man, Half Bearcat" Pike

No, he's half bear, half man-cat. No, he's... Whatever Tony Pike is, it looks like he has now been added to our Heisman Watch this week. We held off as long as we could, but he is on just about every other Heisman watch and we can't talk about Case Keenum without talking about Tony Pike. Even though the Bearcats have not had a difficult schedule (in fact, they play no currently ranked team the entire season), Pike has put up impressive numbers and led Cincinnati to a number 10 ranking in the AP poll. He is playing so well that his passer rating is only slightly below Jimmy Clausen's. ... Read more

Eric Decker

Eric Decker is the second leading receiver in all of college football, but most people around the nation have never heard of him. The senior wide receiver from the University of Minnesota has 35 receptions for 499 yards and 4 touchdowns in four games this season. True, the Golden Gophers haven't had the toughest schedule thus far. But Decker accounted for all of Minnesota's points in the Gophers loss to #8 California two weekends ago, catching two touchdowns and throwing for another. ... Read more

Weekend Roundup

Well, this weekend was a bad one for top 10 teams and Heisman hopefuls alike. The top 10 teams went 5-4 (Oklahoma had a bye) and the only Heisman candidate that really shined was Tebow. And he suffered a concussion, so he can't be feeling great today either. Sure McCoy threw 3 touchdowns, but he also threw a pick and his numbers just weren't that impressive considering his opponent was UTEP. Jahvid Best didn't do much while Cal was getting stomped by Oregon, and the worst performance had to be Jacory Harris against Virginia Tech. ... Read more
