Goodbye Everyone?

And so ends the Charlie Weis era. (I hope.)

He was one of our own, he built several great offenses, made many of us care about Notre Dame football again, helped me in choosing ND over several other schools, but ultimately couldn't win when he had to.

Thank you, Charlie, for trying. Now please have some class and retire. You did not earn the (approx.) 18,000,000 dollars that we reportedly must pay you. Don't take it. ... Read more

4 and Done

A little less than 4 years ago, as a high school senior in Florida, I began my college search. I had visited Chicago-area schools, including Notre Dame, in the spring, but went to the Notre Dame-BYU game.

The game came the week after a close loss to USC (and my prom). We went up, it was freezing, the stands were a little empty due to Fall Break. I loved it.

The team, lead by Brady Quinn, won 49-23. I got put up for 35 push-ups. The spirit, the fans, the experience convinced me to go to Notre Dame.

4 years later, I'm here... ... Read more

A Nightmare Scenario?

Notre Dame has two games and a bowl game remaining. I've heard from someone who is in the know that 1 or 2 wins guarantees a Gator Bowl invite, while 1 or 0 wins sees us heading to the St. Petersburg Bowl.

Wins against UConn and ranked Stanford would have us at 8-4 with a bowl game. Winning out thus gives us 9-4 with a win over a ranked Stanford and, most likely, a win over a ranked opponent in Jacksonville.

This is the worst case. ... Read more

Update on the Coaching Search

Trolling through various websites, including ESPN.com.

Apparently, Notre Dame has blocked tracking of its plane - something not done after we finally got rid of Kevin White. This was clearly done so it would be a secret as to where Jack Swarbuck was traveling.

Secondly, there are a number of names on our list: Brian Kelly and Jon Gruden are apparently on the top. However, Gruden signed an extended deal which will also have him covering Bowl Games with ESPN.

Also joining that list is Stanford's Jim Harbaugh - who also is in talks for an extension to stay in Palo Alto. ... Read more

Reflections of Pitt-ND

Brought to you by awful officiating, still not an excuse for another shitty game since 2005...

Yesterday the Notre Dame Fighting Irish took on the Pittsburgh Panthers. They lost 27-22 with a key chop-block penalty setting up a 3rd and 16 which resulted in the WORST over-turned replay call I've ever seen.

That being said, Weis is still to blame for the loss... ... Read more

Gameday Preview

This preview brought to you by Tylenol Extra Strength, helping me over hangovers since 2006.

Notre Dame has the hardest match-up so we'll start there, with the other three contenders playing in games that don't really matter as they wait for conference championships. ... Read more

Team Update

TE Kyle Rudolph, widely viewed as Clausen's third target, is done with the season with a shoulder injury, Weis said today.

Tate, Floyd, and Allen should play against Pittsburgh at 8pm. However, Rudolph's loss will be felt. Although he hasn't been targeted in some games (USC and BC most significantly), Rudolph remains a talented and big receiver able to create mismatches against less athletic linebackers and safeties.

This loss could hurt Clausen's Heisman chances with limiting his chances at finding an open receiver.
